Fr-Pastor-600x400Father Dennis Timothy O’Mara, associate pastor of St. Luke Parish in Westborough has been named the pastor of St. Paul Parish in Blackstone. He was born on April 7, 1951 in Worcester, the son of George J. O’Mara and Josephine Papagni O’Mara. He graduated from Oxford high school in 1969 and studied at Worcester State College Worcester State. He left Worchester State in 1970 join the U.S. Army where he served as a flight coordinator in Korea during the Vietnam conflict.

Father O’Mara was discharged from the Army in 1976. He worked for more than 15 years in the fiber optics industry and later as a social worker for physically and mentally disabled individuals. He resumed his college studies, earning a bachelor degree in psychology in 1999.

In 2000 he entered Blessed John XXIII Seminary where he earned a Master of Divinity degree. He was ordained a priest on June 5, 2004 in St. Paul Cathedral by Bishop Robert J. McManus. He served as associate pastor of St. Leo Parish in Leominster and at St. Luke’s the Evangelist Parish before coming to St. Paul’s Catholic Community in Blackstone.
