Lenten Booklets Available

for those who want to take this Lenten Season a bit more seriously, the Parish is providing two different Lenten Booklets for your personal reflection. They are entitled: Five Minutes With the Word, Lent 2010, and What Am I doing For Lent This Year (2nd Edition). Each booklet gives a different approach for prayer & reflection during the Lent. They are available on a table in front of Our Lady’s Shrine in the sanctuary. Please take one if you will use it as part of your Lenten spiritual renewal project.

Stations of the Cross

Will be held Wednesdays during Lent, 12:00 noon at St Paul Parish, followed by a Soup Luncheon in the Parish Center.

Lenten Day of Reflection 2/21

sponsored by St. Monica’s Guild of St. Augustine’s Parish, Millville, MA: Sunday, February 21 from 2-4:30 PM. Speaker - Sue Landry of St. Mary’s Parish, Shrewsbury. Come journey with Jesus to the Cross, as we look together at all of the key players involved during Holy Week, which ones can you identify with? No Charge, Good Will Offering will be requested. Refreshments will be served.

Prayer & Reflection, February 23rd at 7:00pm

The topic will be "What are the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary?" followed by prayer, rosary and song. There will be the opportunity for individual confessions.

Ecumenical Lenten Service

We encourage you to attend the next Ecumenical Lenten Service which will be held at Friends Meeting House, 126 Smithfield Rd. (Rte. 146 A), Woonsocket, RI on Thursday, March 4th, at 7 PM. Preacher: Pastor Marnie Miller- Gutsell.

Lenten Day of Reflection 3/16

Tuesday, March 16 at 7 PM. Topic: Discipleship & Mission as a Christian: What Is Discipleship? Speaker: Sr. Irma Gendreau, PFM. Opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available after the service.

Lenten Penance Service, March 23rd at 7:00pm

Visiting priests will be on hand to assist with the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Good Friday

"Cross Walk" - Procession of the Cross

St Paul will be participating in an ecumenical event with St Mark Lutheran Church. Join us at St. Paul’s Church at 11:00 AM for a hymn sing and prayers, Father Conrad Pecevich presiding. Then walk, carrying the cross to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 871 Harris Ave., Woonsocket, RI concluding the service followed by a light lunch served by the Outreach and Fellowship Committee.
If you would like to participate in this event but feel you will not be able to walk the distance, we encourage you to drive between the two parishes.


Lenten Regulations

Catholics should not lightly excuse themselves from these prescribed Lenten penitential practices
  • Fasting is to be observed by all Catholics who are 18 years of age but not yet 59 on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Those bound to fast may take only one full meal. Two smaller meals are permitted if necessary to maintain strength according to one's needs, but eating solid foods between meals is not permitted.
  • Abstinence from meat is to be ovserved by all Catholics 14 years of age and older on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all Fridays of Lent.
